First Anniversary of Smoke Free Bingo Halls In Wales

It is the first anniversary of going smoke free in public places in Wales, including bingo halls and figures have showed that the ban has influenced many people to `kick the habit', having a positive effect overall on the health of the public.

There have even been less smoking connected prosecutions than have been expected. I should think so, imagine being locked up in your local village jail for having a couple of puffs on a fag in the loo at the bingo hall.

The embarrassment of it, one could understand being prosecuted for robbing a bank, at least that has some glamour attached to it, but smoking?

Basically due to the smoking ban, there has been a 25% drop in admissions to bingo halls which has obviously affected profits, however this has caused bingo hall operators to think outside of the box and come up with new and better promotions, and marketing ploys to entice smokers back to the game and encourage new members too.

It is not only bingo halls that have suffered in terms of profits, the ban is also upheld in pubs, bars and restaurants, but most proprietors have said that the band has been a positive thing, with patrons, even the smokers saying it is a lot more pleasant environment without the smoking. They, as do the bingo hall owners, think it might be a good idea to have designated smoking areas though, just to bring up the numbers a bit.
