Last week we reported that two sisters, Doreen Thomas and Linda Kenny were in the process of suing their sister Edna Sexton for not sharing a bingo prize with her that she won in 2007. The Chester County Court has awarded the sisters their share of the winning after deciding that Mrs. Sexton had gone back on a verbal agreement she has with her sisters to share all bingo winnings.
Judge Derek Halbert ruled that Mrs. Sexton's actions amounted to breach of contract and ordered her to pay both sisters £17 463 each, this is their share of the bingo win of £16 666 plus interest, however later, the sisters who hail from Runcorn claimed that their sister had already spent all of the money.
Speaking to the BBC after the court action, Mrs. Thomas told them that the sisters has always shared their bingo winnings and when Mrs. Sexton decided to keep the £50 00 to herself, a family rift had been caused. This is when they both decided to take court action against her. They just couldn't believe that their sister would keep all the money to herself.
There is a similar ongoing court case, the second Mecca Million bingo winner, who was apparently playing with her sister and two sisters-in-law, they also say that they had a verbal agreement to share. I wonder what the outcome of this case is going to be, whatever it is, it will be interesting.
