Bingo Brings Back Memories

It has often been punted that bingo is good exercise for the brain, and in fact research studies have been conducted that proves this is the case. This is thought to help keep the elderly more active and the elderly bingo playing fraternity has been found to have much faster reactions than younger people who do not play the game.

In a Teffi Valley, Wales care centre for the elderly, the Maes Llewellyn Care Home, in Newcastle Emlyn, a lot of new games have been introduced, these are new games with a difference they are "old", sounds a bit of a paradox doesn't it ? Well not really, they have added games to their repertoire that induce nostalgia in the elderly residents and bingo is no exception to this rule. The Cardigan Rotary Club made the generous donation of the much needed games one of which is a new game that uses old props, old fashioned men's shaving razors, darning mushrooms and 10 shilling notes and this has been almost as popular game as the bingo has been. The Rotarians also donated special games for the dementia care suite, and this has brought much needed stimulation to the residents of the care centre.
