Councillor For Farnborough, Calls Bingo "Mindless Game of Chance"

When Gala Bingo announced that it would be opening a club as part of the town centre development of Farnborough Councillor David Clifford said that he was really disappointed, and the called the game a "mindless game of chance!" He did however have the grace to say that he was aware that Victoria Road residents were by the majority, the elderly who might consider the bingo a great night out, he saw the town as more of a theatre venue.

He also feels that cultural entertainment rather than a "mindless game of chance" appeals more to him and feels it would be a better choice for all resident, regardless of age or background. However regardless of his lack of tact the bingo club is to go ahead and be developed, it is felt by the developer that there has been an increased interest in people going to play bingo over the past few years and the club will add a new dimension to the town centre development. Negotiations have been continuing for the past eighteen months and it is pretty much a done deal now. Sorry Councillor Clifford, the town of Farnborough is going to get its bingo club.
