Gwynedd Leisure Limited the company behind the plans to have a bingo hall developed at Dock Victoria have announced that the plans have been withdrawn, apparently because Councillors have found fault with the application. The company is now considering their position. The flaws in the plans for the bingo club were pertinent to the licence to sell alcohol as well as the gaming licence.
When the flaws in the plans were discovered Gwynedd Leisure Limited decided to completely withdraw their application. Top Ten bingo, who are already ensconced in Caernafon said that the plans excluded such important factors as where fire safety equipment was to be placed, hence the rejection. Plans apparently also showed the emergency escape for the bingo hall as opening inwards and included no facilities for smokers or under eighteens.
It is also interesting to note that when plans for the proposed bingo hall were made public, ten out of fourteen of the residents of apartments at the dock, signed a petition against it When plans for the bingo hall were made public, 10 out of 14 residents at the new dock development signed a petitioned against it.
The are known to have paid from £300 00 - £700 000 for the apartments and did not feel that the construction of a bingo hall would suit the area and in fact was "alien" to the development.
