Artists Paints Portraits of Bingo Girls

This is a really interesting story that I came across while researching some bingo news. Unfortunately you actually need to see the video to appreciate it fully, but I will do my best to translate pictures into words for you.

Timothy Sutton is an artist, and he first found the material for his portraits after the smoking ban came into place in UK bingo clubs. Bingo players are notorious for their smoking habits and after the ban got under way, the smokers in the bingo club started going outside for a quick puff of a cigarette in-between bingo games. Timothy, driving by the Riva Bingo club in Streatham, saw these ladies outside, puffing away at their cigarettes and had the idea to paint a series of portraits. He approached the ladies and asked if they would sit for the portraits and bingo girls being the game sort that they are, all agreed. Timothy painted the series of portraits and this has been exhibited, he calls it "Bingo Girls" and it is really a very interesting exhibition. I mean who would have known that an artist would find his muse in a lot of ladies outside the local bingo club, puffing on ciggies? But Timothy did and he is really happy with the outcome of the series. As I said previously, you really should watch the video, but I didn't pick up the link for some reason, although you should be able to google it quite easily. Take a look, you might be pleasantly surprised.
