Mecca Bingo's Light Bulb Giveaway Receives MP’s Support

We recently reported on the fact that Mecca Bingo Clubs were raising awareness for energy saving, by giving away energy saving light bulbs to customers. Although this is a national campaign the initiative has now received support from Ian Lucas, the MP for Wrexham.

The MP visited the Mecca Bingo Club in Wrexham to endorse the company's two million light bulb give-away. This is a joint initiative between Mecca bingo and SWALEC. They want to help Mecca Bingo Club members save money, by saving on their electricity bills. And we all know that energy saving is a big deal in this world we are living in, say nothing of saving money. All Mecca Bingo Club members are able to receive a pack of two free energy saving bulbs, all they have to do is swipe their membership cards.

If all two million of these light bulbs are used, it will save enough energy to run every street light in the UK for as long as twelve days. This saving on energy can pay the electricity bills of 6 200 families.

Looking at numbers like these, imagine if all the residents in the UK used these energy saving light bulbs. Mecca Bingo could be onto a very good wicket here. It appears to me that the initiative to start small to achieve something really big is getting off to a very good start.
